  • The actual webview that is dead https://github.com/Divested-Mobile/maps

This fork is active and fixes stuff if something is broken, so at the very least it will be alive a little longer. Last release was 5.0, 2 months ago, with fixes for street view.

Gmaps wv is a dead project

Meh, not really. It is absolutely not dead for my usecase, for example. You still have streetview to some extend, still more full information about some places compared to OpenStreetMaps, photos, reviews of places, sometimes more correct pathways. So not exactly dead project.

It will become dead once google will entirely block anonymous access ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Google is actively breaking anonymous access to gmaps, so those things are also breaking

Yes, I am aware of that, but until google completely make not possible to use their maps anonymously — something akin to gmaps webview will have its use.

  • for all its Artikel and grammatical complexity

For people who are already know languages that are gendered and quite complex (which is true for… Quite a lot of languages actually) this is not a hard part. Most of the stuff is already exist in other languages in one way or shape. You just need to wire concepts from your language to German, which surprisingly is working, for the most part.

The problem is, that most of this concept in German language does not rely on some logic to follow or consistency, but rather RULES, EXEMPTIONS TO RULES, and remembering everything, because it is the only way.

Example of this is gendered words aka Artikels. You have words Apfel. That’s it. How do you know it is “he”? You don’t, you need to remember. You don’t have anything to guess or using simple solution to deduct gender. There is one oh many rules like “alcoholic beverages are him” with exception of beer because it is “it”. And that is how it work in German language.

Recently we started learning such weird concept as “verbs of moving” which determine if it going to be “ich habe etwas gekauften” or “ich bin nach Hause gekommen”. How to I differentiate? I do not know, but apparently “tanzen” is not about moving, despite the idea of dance is to move, so it is “habe”, not “bin” ☹️

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

  • Nope.

    syncthing: Kommando nicht gefunden

As far I am aware - there is no other packages related to syncthing is avaliable in distro repositories and this one not included by distro by default.

UPD: there also appears to be syncthing-tools package in repos, but it is also not included in mine system by default and I never installed it myself.

The only trace of Syncthing on my system is… well, from that flatpak. And unless I missunderstund how any of that works, syncthing is included in flatpak and you can look for it in its manifest file: https://github.com/flathub/com.github.zocker_160.SyncThingy/blob/a786450f1305474e71c1f33c468ff3dc5758e238/com.github.zocker_160.SyncThingy.yml#L42 It takes syncting release from https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/releases and adds it to build process.
