The CEO of Kärcher (the pressure washer company) thinks that too much regulation is hindering European industry, while this industry faces increasing competition from China.

Is he right? Should we slash regulations? Should we allow big companies to do whatever they like?

The red tape is there to make sure these billionaire urchins are forced to follow the rules.

I do not trust anyone who comes in demanding the removal of red tape, instead of “we need to make the rules easier and more convenient to navigate”. This guy can get fucked.

If it was about the fair competition he would call for regulating Chinese imports instead. You don’t maka a game fair by dropping any rules just because others break them.

Anu Breadford coined the term „Brussels Effect“ for the regulatory super power the EU has. Of course not every regulation is done right, but comments like this one are a concerted effort by companies to dismantle a powerful regime that has been building over the last decades. Especially tech bros like Elon and authoritarians like Miles hate it. That should tell you everything.

Tbh we have quite a lot regulations in Europe. Saying this working in a big company. However, I do see every single regulation as thoughtful and useful but the sheer mass of regulations are an issue in my view.

Do I want to get rid of them? No, because I see and know how people live and work outside of Europe. Not that good, I think, as many regulations protect people and environment.

Do I fully support those regulations? No, tbh. I work half of this entire year to cope many regulations - working in automation. It feels like a slaughter game with even another boss enemy one have to survive. Never knowing when its the final one and it’s over.

On other side, those regulations produce quite some jobs and big companies can afford it. For the smaller ones it can be a nightmare.
