Man, where’s this guy working where he can afford a family and her school bills on one income?

Inb4 it involves gunning down minorities in the street

And the only other comment so far is “my spouse and I supported the military industrial complex in their suppression of minorities in the middle east so we got our school paid for by the military” lmao

What about the ones that hang when they weld beams?

Also there’s underwater welding, and oil rig worker. Those pay high too, though oil rigs are not really moral to work for

Or, and just hear me out, they could live in a country that doesn’t exploit its citizens like that and affords every working family childcare, school tuition, and many of your costs of living are subsidized, paid for in taxes that do not favor the wealthy.

We got all that but we still had to go where my wife was sent, as a doc.
Still gotta work as a team toward a common goal and take one for said team when required.

Tbf, that is common in the US as well. When you do your residency, you have limited options, and usually just have to move your family wherever they tell you.

I don’t think you’re proposing government reforms as a replacement for a supportive relationship, so what exactly is the point of this comment?

Further, there are definitely places where it’s vastly easier for two adults to attend higher education while raising multiple children and not be employed, but that doesn’t mean that the most preferred or easiest path is to do so.
There’s a world of difference between “possible”, “humane and kind” and “preferable to having an independent source of income in conjunction with the benefits for 2-4 years and then switching”.

Everyone’s just trying to sound the most correct while pushing the hottest political buttons. It’s hard to thread that oil tanker through the eye of a camel, so to speak.

Was that my grandparents? Holy shit, cause my grandma was a nurse and my grandpa was an aerospace engineer. And they did exactly that, in exactly that order. What a wild thing to stumble on.

My wife and I did that. She went to college while I worked and then she worked while I went to college. We both had the GI Bill since we were both in the military.

Not only partnership, but love. People tank their relationships by trying to ‘win’ and be the ‘better’ partner. Rising tides lift all boats!

My girlfriend was poor but my wife is rich and it’s awesome!

How it’s phrased it kind of sounds like she’s doing all the child rearing and domestic stuff in both scenarios.
