There’s a lot of daylight between “the exact thing a word means” and “the messy group of people who can currently be vaguely be defined that way”. Those are not the choices I would have made if I was telling a story about the guy who built the bomb. I would have probably drawn a lot more from sources like Barefoot Gen, myself.

I really agree. For genuinely talking about the senseless horror of those bombings, especially the callous afterthought that was Nagasaki, I prefer Dan Carlin’s podcast series.
