I have 2 weeks off right now, fully paid, and we can be sick up to 6 weeks with full payment, after that 70% payed by my mandatory health insurance. Because it’s the law. It’s also a law that you have to take 2 weeks off in a row at least 1x per year. And you get minimum 4 weeks per year.
The government is the union, at a base level, and then you go from there. If your government offers nothing then even a union will only bring you up so much. Both are good even without the other, but the government actually working for the people and making hard laws is the best option if you had to pick. It’s also much more difficult to do considering most people are dumb as hell, so unions help give them a more local opportunity to understand that working together is a good idea.
*You hate your country’s laws.

How tf do they calculate your payment?
Or they hate that they’re not in a union
