Even if having been attacked my fear is “legitimate,” the issue is treating every black man as if he’s going to stab me. Why then is it different to treat all men as if they’re going to rape you? In both cases you’re “just being cautious.”

Furthermore most violence against women is committed by people they know, not random strangers. Treating random strangers as a monolith ain’t gonna help there.
