Tartah’s going have to be careful of what he says, or he’ll wind up with his own memories erased.
Major weakness of this world’s magic system discovered!
spoiler
You can’t draw under water. Yet.
The whole Brimmed Hat ink bottle thing with Coco seemed… pointless? Okay, they demonstrated that they have the refilling “technology” from the disbarred Healers, and a little bit of history there, but what was the tactic of showing that to Coco at this point?
Maybe we’ll get some revelations as to what this was supposed to accomplish later?
This was one of those episodes that leaves more questions that satisfying conclusions.

It definitely feels like they’re just kinda fucking around. Hopefully this will all make sense someday.
Wasn’t the point that Eyeball could mess with Coco’s ink anytime they wanted?
And that mixing blood with ink seemed to make the magic far more powerful, hence the explosion of light when Qifrey tried it?
Coco didn’t know anything about the paired bottles, she just thought magic ink did that.
And this seems to explain how Coco, already clearly shown not to be the most effective witch, was able to desertify an entire river.

Right, but why mess with Coco’s ink in the first place? Why are they so fixated on messing with Coco? Hopefully we find out in the future.
Why are they so fixated on messing with Coco?
Yeah, that’s the big mystery.
My guess is that they go around the country setting up honey traps that only kids with magic potential are drawn to, and then try to lure them to the brimmed side.
It also sounds like there might be some, uh, lingering resentment over the whole “purging of healers and unapproved magic users” thing, so I’m thinking revenge might be a motivator.

I mean, the purge is still ongoing when you think about it. I don’t think those wizard cops from earlier would’ve hesitated to take action if they saw this person mixing their blood with ink to enhance its effects. Not sure what they can do against someone who can teleport like that, but maybe they have a plan.
There’s not enough time in the day for everything I get it. But no matter how much one is motivated sooner or later health will decline. Coco experienced it first hand.
