In the book series the expanse, which takes place a couple hundred years in the future, terms like sir are gender neutral. Women in charge are often referred to as sir. I think that’s what’ll happen irl, hopefully. I use guys as a gender neutral term and always have, and I will not stop!
That’s pretty much how I’ve always used it. Still call all mailmen “mailmen” regardless of gender. I’m not sure how important any of this is to the average person (no one seems to care in my day to day life).
i know it’s a meme, but “man” originally meant something like -person (though that was like 1,000 years ago).
that said, how about these
firefighter
mailhander
fisher
bootlicker
spokesperson
garbager

Garbager and garbagee
That’s a part of garbage. A person belonging to a local trash dump. I know several such people.
Or how about ‘trasher’
+1 for garbager. Garbaging is hard.
