Sweden will transfer 16 Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine and sell 22 more, with deliveries expected starting in 2027 as Kyiv seeks to strengthen its air defenses.
Apparently they’re hoping to deliver the first jets in December/January, so in about 6 months. From what I gather they’re buying the E/F variant (latest version) which will be delivered in 2030, but as soon as the deal is finalised they’ll get the 16 free C/D (previous version).
Sweden is currently upgrading its fleet from C/D to E/F, with the first one delivered in October 2025.

I so wish we (Denmark) had bought Gripen instead of F35. 🤥
I really really hope our new government will cancel the F35 deal. 🙏
