Dark chocolate. And when I say dark I mean everything on the 70% to 100% cocoa spectrum. Anything below 70% is not dark chocolate to me.

I know I should stop buying it because it’s bad for the environment and there’s a lot of unfairness toward cocoa farmers in the industry… but fuck man. I can cut down on my intake, but I can never cut it out of my life entirely.

HRT isn’t a luxury, but a necessity I’d never give up. If not that, I’d want a uterus, but if also not that… enough money to cover my needs, some fun, and to build up a financial & medication support network for all gals and queers!

Fresh water, like, from a fridge. I’m autistic and if the water is not fresh enough, I find it really hard to drink.

Otherwise, I guess my Hormone Replacement Therapy is a luxury? I can’t live without it. My anxious brain often think about what would happen if my government was to “change”, if I was locked up somewhere against my will, or the societal system we live in was to completely collapse, and how I could lose my treatments from that. It’s very scary.

AFAIC your HRT is not a “luxury” any more than any other medical necessity.

Hey Omega i hear you totally and you’re not scared of your shadow, it’s a valid fear. Remember no politics in this community though. And that we have your back 100%

I do think it’s important not to flood this space with news and fear and so it’s a good rule to not allow people to shoehorn politics into everything. Obviously sometimes it’s integral to the topic at hand and it will come up - no one should have to hide who they are.

(In this case I don’t think bringing up fears about losing our rights is uncalled for or off topic - it’s a reality women face all across the world, whether it’s reproductive rights or the right to take hrt. I’m just saying the comm’s rule as a whole has merit.)

If your UK based id suggest Rave, a bit mainstream but fair price, good range, fast delivery. I have tried a good 15 around the UK. I also use Iron & Fire, and Recent beans semi regular.

Maybe a small taster pack, or if you are grabbing a big bag, each coffee have their ‘contributing flavors’ for example cherry or walnut etc. I personally like the south American blends, I drink mine as latte or cappuccino and a med strength.

Its a good idea to check if they have a grinder first.

Depends on whether they drink espresso or drip, but for espresso I very much like Intelligentsia’s Black Cat Classic beans

Where I am, there are a couple of coffee places that partner with smaller growers and have really good product. It’s a but pricey for me for a daily coffee. But it is what I would get for a gift. For my daily, I’ll see what the local food coop has that’s fair trade.

Coffee comes in various roasts - basically the level of toasted the beans are. Maybe ask your friend for advice on choosing a good roast level of coffee for you. Then use that information to choose the best roast for your friend.

I tried to skimp and bought a big bag of coffee at “premium warehouse store”. The flavor was unpleasant and weak. I had to use idk. 50% more coffee to get something with flavor. Back the nice beans first me.

Before I moved here this is what I would have gone with. But now it’s definitely tea for me.

Don’t get me wrong. I adore my SOE “Yunnan Red Wine Sun-Dried” beans. But I can live without if I have to. I can’t do the same with tea anymore.

a bidet. i cant shit in public toilets anymore. it just feels so gross not being able to clean myself properly. at this point it doesnt feel like a luxury at all, it feels like a necessity. its still technically a luxury because they arent available anywhere in public and some rental agreements specifically forbid them, which feels like a crime against humanity.

they dont want people touching the plumbing because of the remote risk of water damage. i lived in student housing at university in a shared unit once, the kind where a maintenance person has access to the space sometimes. i had installed a bidet in the toilet because duh, and they actually removed it and tossed it without saying anything… like its literally not hurting anything but the arbitrary rules say no so fuck me i guess. its just punitive patronizing ass covering of the worst variety. lots of rentals have stipulations that youre not allowed to make improvements at all, but also that if you break the rules and do make improvements youre not allowed to remove them and theyre the property of the landlord… those people are fucking skum sucking leeches who only care about themselves.

Ah. I appreciate the explanation. I understand why they may have a blanket rule against such things (I disagree with it, but that’s a separate issue), but the fact that they just threw away your property enrages me…

Private house. Simply the ability to get outdoors at any time i want. In an appartment its an entire journey instead: dress up appropriately, lock the door, get down on stairs or elevator. It is too invonvenient for a two minute outdoor break.

I have neighbors. Whoever built my house is a genius because almost none of them look at a neighbors house (the utility room can see one of their walls). Its one of the oddest but underrated luxuries of my adult life.
