In short:

Australia has recorded its biggest-ever quarterly surge in electric vehicle sales.

Across April, May and June, nearly one in every two vehicles sold was either electric or hybrid.

What’s next?

Liberal deputy Jane Hume says the figures show EV subsidies introduced by the government in 2023 had grown “out of control”.

The problem with acting like a raving looney on the internet is that there’s so many actual raving loonies.

I am not going to /s comments like this, reading a comment that obviously sarcastic and kneejerk reacting without considering the context is a complete self-own moment for everyone who downvoted that.

Instead of blaming people for not getting your joke, just take responsibility and accept the downvotes if people don’t get it if you are not going to use /s, you caring about it enough to type this is a self-own. If you need to clarify this way afterwards just get over it and put the /s in the first place.

No, I agree with them. Putting /s after every sarcastic comment negates any of the humour, it’s like explaining the joke immediately after telling it. The internet was funnier before people started doing this regularly to avoid social media pile ons.

Yes you can choose not to add the /s. But don’t complain about downvotes from people who don’t get it.

They didn’t complain about downvotes, they mocked the people who downvoted. There’s a big difference between the two,

Kinda of the same for bringing them up like that. It emits the energy of crying “I am totally not owned!”. The thing is addressing your sarcasm afterwards in any way defeats the point of not adding the “/s” in the first place.

Electric motors are radically simple at the heart of how they work, understanding a combustion engine is like going to medical school for an alien species in comparison.

I mean that isn’t even getting into all the black magic wizardy transmission design that low torque odd power curve combustion engines necessitate!

If someone tells you they understand a normal combustion engine commuter car transmission they are either a transmission expert or a scammer, whereas you can make an electric motor literally with a battery, wire and some magnets.

It emits the energy of crying “I am totally not owned!”.

Downvoting or rage replying to an obviously sarcastic comment because you were too dense to interpret it correctly isn’t owning the commenter.

What does sound like “I am totally not owned” is continuing to protest that it’s the original commenter’s fault for not immediately explaining the joke because you are embarrassed that you didn’t understand it.
