The term liberal has been so mutilated. The only other term equally as mutilated is socialist.

What’s so annoying is that they have been mutilated by the left bickering about what actually counts a left and not the right.

I think it’s more that the right has tried to force itself into the left and demand we accept them. People who want to keep capitalism but simply reform it so that there are stronger laws are still pushing right wing ideology.

Absolutely not. The level of derangement needed to make this statement is insane. For decades we’ve been watching corporate and right-wing media push the idea of liberalism as far to the left as they can for nefarious purposes. I don’t know why you’re pretending that didn’t happen.

The vast majority of people who support trans rights would self identify as liberals.

Eh, I dunno about that. They are until election season, then suddenly its “Blue No Matter Who, even if they don’t support trans rights!”

True but I think this is more about liberal politicians. That addition would make it a bit more accurate.

Meh. Most of the “liberal” voters don’t care enough to hold the politicians accountable for their transphobia in primaries.

True but I think that’s more of an issue of not paying attention than that they actively want trans rights to be eroded. I have seen some people making the argument that trans rights should be abandoned for electability so it’s an idea that’s out there but not a mainstream idea among liberals I don’t think.

Apples to apples would be comparing elected liberal politicians to elected anarchist politicians, in which case Tiger would be standing there alone.

Some anarchists have advocated for participation in electoralism. So even though we’ve rarely if ever seen this, I’m not sure I agree it would be totally oxymoronic. Praxis requires reckoning with the existing conditions. And existing conditions are that most changes in society are executed by politicians.

Now I’m kinda wondering what an anarchist politician would look like.
