Interesting. I have yet to lose anything from my library on Bandcamp but that would piss me off if it happened.

I do download and backup my purchases though. I download in both FLAC and mp3 320 formats so I have my bases covered just in case. It is annoying to keep my purchases separate though.

Bandcamp is great. I buy albums on Bandcamp when I can. Too many artists are not on there though, or only have older albums available.

What a great read. I was going to try the what.cd interview one day but never got there. Now I wish I had just to experience what it must have been.

I laminate my punch cards for longevity. Wouldn’t want them breaking down.

I started playing with Linux in the late 1990s more out of curiosity. I bought a book on Red Hat Linux 6 that came with an installation CD. I have used Linux off and on since then but now have gone exclusively Linux.

Windows updates and app installs in general are a pain in the ass. Linux is so much nicer to use for these things.

I have an appreciation for FOSS. Even when I was running Windows, I looked for FOSS options when possible.

Gaming has gotten so much better. I am not a heavy gamer but I am glad I can play on Linux when I do.

Also, last but not least, the wife acceptance factor kept me dual booting long after I would have switched. She was using my PC for some tasks and did not want to “learn Linux”. I solved that by getting her a PC of her own.

Same. I grab 1080p for pretty much everything. There’s not enough of a visual difference to go with 4k file sizes, especially with storage prices being what they are.

Socialism isn’t a dirty word anymore. I would gladly take socialism over the late stage capitalism that allows surveillance pricing to exist.
