It’s part of the big five personality model that is the current best understanding psychologists have of human personality. People vary a lot in terms of how much social contact they want, regardless of the things you said.

2·13 hours agoBut we say farad, not Faraday. I can’t find many examples, but there’s the neper (named after Napier).
As far as I understand, the only way to get anything resembling usable output for coding is with massive, expensive, labouriously hand-tuned models, not local ones.

1·4 days agoInflation numbers are always a summary - whereas we naturally tend to focus on the worst examples. So some products you buy probably didnt go up as much, but that’s harder to remember. Overall, housing costs haven’t gone up nearly as much as food, for example, so your total inflation was likely closer to the headline figures (though I’m specifically talking about food inflation, which sometimes did make the headlines itself)
That brings us to another phenomenon, which is that noone actually buys the exact “basket of goods” that economists use to work out inflation, so your personal rate can be different for that reason as well.
But in the end there was a period of high inflation, which peaked at about 20% year on year, and while wages have grown, they haven’t grown anywhere near as much.
I think this means stories like this one have much more salience because we’re all feeling the pinch due to inflation since 2020, so a low level of inflation now is very worrying.

21·4 days agoInflation is measured annually - food prices have increased roughly 3-4% since one year ago. Your reply indicates you’re thinking about inflation since 2020. And inflation was high during that period, it’s just now gone back down. That doesn’t mean prices have gone back down - that is not only unlikely, but economically dangerous.
Hopefully that clears that up?
Is it a Finnish thing? Those nutters bloody love pine flavour

25·5 days agoIn his defence it sounded like a fairly stupid policy given that
- food inflation is still low, at around 3.5%
- with no legislation in place, price fixing is illegal
- price controls don’t achieve the desired effect in a competitive market, and supermarkets don’t make profits on staples
But if Novara Media cared about facts they might have written a less stupid title for the video.
That’s why I weakened “all” though? You’re weakening it even more.
So there’s not enough evidence in the 40 years since the Satanic Panic got going for any investigative journalist from any publication to write an article about it.
Referring to “the captured media” doesn’t really dress that up any better. Enjoy your conspiracy theory, I hope you feel superior to the subscribers to all the conspiracy theories you don’t believe in.
I didn’t ask for an “exposé”. An article would be absolutely fine.
Well thank you for your frankness but it sounds like there’s not sufficient evidence to convince me, or the ordinary person.
That doesn’t sound like a disinformation campaign though.

I can’t find any corroboration of that, can you say more? The D&D thing specifically was started by someone whose son committed suicide and she attributed his death to D&D.
AI making you a moron requires not only that using AI degrades your faculties to such an extent that you become one, but that “all of us” (let’s say, the majority of people in rich countries) use it so much it has that effect.
I’m sure it will have some effect on the unexpected portions of one’s brain, but still doubt the first part is true, as do I doubt the second.

MTBI personality typing is straight up bullshit, but extraversion is also part of the psychologically validated big five model. It’s pretty persistent over time.
