Sorry, but how else to call it when you are distorting my comment into something I clearly did not say, just to easily refute it? That is the defintion of that term.

Maybe don’t do that in the first place. You still haven not brought forward an actual argument besides this para discussion.

You were claiming I was spreading “doomer mentality of “I can’t do anything to lose weight it’s my genetics””

That is false, I did no such thing. I merely stated the fact that metabolisms and especially regulation differ and some have to climb a steeper hill than others to get to the same peak. Harder doesn’t mean impossible.

Strawman. I was saying no such thing, merely that for some it is harder than for others. Just like some would starve to dewth in a famine sooner than others at identical feed intake and rate of activity.

This is no excuse for anything, just a fact. People can gave an influence on that, no matter the genes.

No s"t Sherlock. Doesn’t really change the fact that this is much easier to achieve than for others, before we are even talking about will power. Some people can eat much more at the same workout level as others, without gaining weight. No contradiction with thermodynamics needed.

  • He does sing the whole song in what I assume is a noticeable Czech German accent. This accent has pretty much vanished from Vienna’s streets I think. Those families who used to be called “Behm” are now the true Viennese and they are calling now people with Serbo-Croatian accents names … ok, that’s a generalisation but the irony is there nonetheless.

  • I do agree. The monarchy is back long enough that it is fading into the background. However, in Bratislava they are larping Habsburger coronations every year, but Slovaks are different in some ways ;)

jk I have never experienced a problem getting around in Czechia but I have been mostly in Moravia close to the border or in cities like Brno or Praha. Young people can usually speak English well enough to make themselves understood on both sides of the border I think but maybe that’s my bubble.

  • Not that anyone cares but I think Austrians view Czechs the same way that Czechs view themselves in that image. I don’t know how it is the other way round, if they hate Austrians for the counter reformation, the monarchy, Nazis or all of the above.

Hey, but we all love powidl, don’t we?

  • It just needs an employee who ended his employment in a way that was not to his or her liking. This is a huge risk for the company, the fines are substantial and huge companies will have a hard time keeping everything watertight and secret. Alternatively, hackers or other informed people can get to know a lot about the functioning of systems, firmware and software. So even if there is no one ratting the company out, they could still end up with those huge fines, or worse.

  • That’s why in Austria we have not only Unions but a “Worker’s chamber” (and also an “Enterpreneur’s chamber”). While companies can prevent unions they can’t prevent that chamber. If you are not part of a union you can still call the chamber and it has legal specialists, it can help you and also sue on your behalf if need be, at no cost to you. If the company fires you over your legit concern’s they can also get you damages for that from that company. Of course, unions can offer stronger protection and the two institutions also work together but it is good to have a second layer that companies can’t get rid off.

These things are quite different between different countries in Europe as well though.
