It has been the Democrat’s major strategy to gain political power in this country since 2016 when Trump first took office to advocate for a certain type of negative politics that isn’t the Republicans, rather than advocating for a positive politics focused on what makes the Democrats.

Establishment Dems use the existence of MAGA Republicans to try to persuade voters that they’re at least not as bad as MAGA, when they should be spending the time between elections persuading voters with all the good policies that defined the Dems for decades: positive immigration, civil rights, social safety nets, etc.

Establishment Dems have a politics of what are we against, while new sects of the party like Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have a politics of what are we for. The latter are seeing amazing success across the country.

To the capitalist, everything is an asset that can make money, including land. No money making in returning land to nature, unless a positive externality is introduced by a tax credit or something. Not a perfect solution by far, but rewilding is a necessary pill to swallow because we’re in the sixth mass extinction and are using land for things like cows and pigs which is super water and fertilizer intensive.

  • THIS !!!

As a solar engineer myself that started in utility scale solar and just left their first Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar job, residential, commercial, and industrial solar is the best use.

    1. you center generation as close as possible to utilization, minimizing transmission and distribution.

    2. land is re-used, allowing other lands for other uses like rewilding, reforesting, and conservation.

You still have other problems like large power users, but you cannot ignore the benefits.

  • Mandating solar PV in all building codes nationwide, and incentivizing onshoring of all of the processes that go into manufacturing solar PV panels (including using trade protectionism practices such as tariffs AFTER WE ALREADY HAVE PROCESSING AND MANUFACTURING CAPABILITIES IN THE USA) will do wonders for helping average people transition away from fossil fuel Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) cars to EVs.

Many people who cry foul about EVs and renewables adding too much load to a grid that is too old and just can’t handle it forget the main counter to disarm their arguments: colocating generation with utilization.

Having solar PV (and other renewable) generation closest to where that power wants to be used is the best for the grid infrastructure (maybe not the grid investors) because it reduces residential/commercial load while maintaining the needs of the original giga users of the grid: Industry.

There are solutions to SO many of today’s problems. We just have politicians that are bought and sold by billionaires and their corporations who won’t do the public’s bidding. Voting progressive politicians in, and preferably ones who vocally claim they’re Democratic Socialist or similar, is the strongest way we push back against Big Oil, Big Coal, Big Tech, and all the other mega industries.

  • Liberals have no answers for the current political crisis. And instead of caving to that reality and showing some humility, they’ll try to rally the troops to “VoTe BlUe nO MaTtEr wHo” as if the Democratic party signifies all good with politics, while Republicans signify all bad.

A lot of these people don’t have the political science education or distrust in the current party to be able to see the Democratic party for what it is: controlled opposition.

Why do liberals think Bernie Sanders and AOC are leaders in the party that draw so much attention? It’s not because of some focus group. It’s because of the anti-rich world view both candidates hold.

Per usual, a Leftist means being right too soon.
