  • Noblesse oblige of being world hegemon.

Y’all can stop caring about international disease outbreaks, but then there’s no reason to send tribute (rare earths, oil, etc.) to the US instead of China1.

US-sponsored puppet governments will become unpopular and get replaced by China-sponsored puppet governments1 that promise to be more reliable in providing medical care.

And so, in the long term, the US will have to cut its consumption of goods by at least half, down to at least European levels. Which, given how much of the US is overbuilt and built to decay quickly so people keep buying stuff, will mean a Western Roman Empire-like collapse of US infrastructure.

1: There’s the chance of political independence and no tribute at all, but (neo)colonial infrastructure was built for (neo)colonialism - to bring raw resources to ports and consumer goods from ports - so materially it’s very easy for another overlord to come in and demand the same deal as before.

  • Russia satisfies its need for the support of a liberal democratic system by having elections. The Roman Empire satisfied its need for the support of the republic system by still having a senate. These procedures don’t need to die for them to become irrelevant to the functioning of power.

The US will likely still have elections. The oligarchy will decide the next president through rigged Republican primaries, and then that president will win through a rigged federal election. The Democrats will take their paychecks to play the honorable losers to discredit claims of election fraud, and AI-filtered feeds will try to push people in the same direction.

You over estimate AI and propaganda’s ability to create stability.

I don’t know if they would actually create stability, but this is the plan they seem to be executing on, and they certainly expect a lot from AI and propaganda. If it helps, they’re also making massive amounts of autonomous drones, which could be weaponized and deployed against their own citizens. (While automated weaponry is a war crime, that only applies when fighting another state. The US is already committing war crimes against its own citizens with tear gas and inhumane prisons).

This is the annoying part of talking with non-anarchists about anarchists. You see anarchists choosing a different structure and abandoning the old structure, and your hierarchy-pilled brain treats it like a total collapse because the top of the structure is different.

The people in this picture are still out there. Whether they joined Têkosîna Anarsîsta, or a different guerilla group, or they switched to doing more useful labor when the threat of violence wound down, or something else still. They are still doing work to improve the world, motivated by ideas improved from those they had while in this movement.

Collectives exist for their people. If a collective no longer fits the needs of the people it shouldn’t exist anymore. You wouldn’t criticize a pupa for lasting so short before producing a butterfly, so why criticize a collective?

  • At this point, most of Trump’s inner circle can’t risk a return to rule of law. Without a Republican president securing pardons, many people in power can get jailed.

Strongmen are hard to replace, but that creates power struggles within the inner circle rather than a calm return to liberal democracy.

Project 2025 was written and executed competently because of people other than Trump. There will be a Project 2029, a similar step towards autocracy.

With Google replacing its search with AI and similar substitutions being made across media, the information that people will be consuming >90% of the time will be malleable everywhere all at the same time in the same way.

Those data centers popping up everywhere aren’t being built for nothing, they want AI to be so plentiful as to suffuse everything, so that events can simply be hallucinated into or out of existence, and you can’t tell the difference between Mandela Effect, Memory Hole, or genuine change in available evidence.

This is why tech company leaders were put in the most prominent position during the inauguration; it is through them that the post-truth state of a stable fascist regime will be accomplished.

They can’t let this project go to waste. They’ve invested trillions in this, committed countless felonies, and burned bridges with allies and economic partners across the world. Either they continue to commit or their ambitions collapse forever.

Similarly people who champion the removal of animal products but won’t look into the eyes of a combine harvester and the animal it has ran over, the displacement or slaughter of animals in the clearing of farmlands, the increase in water consumption as new areas are turned over to fast cash crop agriculture based on whatever the current trend is,

Animal products require the cultivation of more plants than vegan food. Animals need to be fed, and they burn tons of calories to stay alive.

the removal of byproducts from industry such as long lasting leathers of adhesive products in exchange for quick rotting fast fashion made largely of petroleum products, and the costs associated with all of that are also misguided at best to delusional at worst.

Without subsidies, it is cheaper to make long-lasting bioplastics from plant matter than to raise a cow and kill it for its skin. The fashion industry makes clothes that decay in order to sell more clothes, and the meat industry artificially lowers the price of leather.

So maybe instead of fighting one another over petty concerns we can come together and take a look at the system trying to keep people apart and reliant on its own monstrous excess

Agreed, you should take a look at the system and let go of your petty concerns. This will make you vegan.

  • They definitely change their position based on new information. Nuclear power went from desirable to undesirable when it went from nuclear weapons manufacturing to competition with fossil fuels. Climate change went from a future problem to a non-existent problem. Mass migration went from a necessity to do work locals didn’t want to do to the end of western civilization.

They always tell the most convenient lie to increase the power of the elite and break the power of the working class, and as that changes their position changes.

Conservatives are principled people. They believe whole-heartedly that hierarchy is justice. That some should suffer and work hard and others prosper and work little, and they are willing to be the ones that suffer if need be.

  • So they will be murdering hundreds if not thousands of people per year.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, at least 4320 people died of heat related illness in 2023 and 2024 combined. 2/3 of Arizona lives in Phoenix, so that’s around 1400 people per year already. 3⁰C extra will be catastrophic.

People will come back to houses with their loved ones boiled to death because the AC broke and the repair service wouldn’t risk their life sending anyone out there. People will have engine failure and die on the side of the highway before AAA can arive. Fire risk is also going to increase to absurd levels so entire neighborhoods might well burn down.

I really hope this is going to be enough to start a revolution, because that is going to be hell.

It’s the word “excuse” that doesn’t fit right. There is no shame in the action for them, no duplicity or deception. The Iran war is an opportunity for them to jack up the price, an opportunity they always take when available as is their fiduciary duty.
