It was a fun little wiki binge though, I keep running into Pepys’s diaries when looking stuff up about London and it’s kinda mindblowing being able to look back in time through his eyes like that, he documented so much. Also this painting of the city on fire is spectacular.
I had to look that one up as I’d not heard it before. The only reference I could find though was a youtube video, which I admittedly didn’t watch in favour of reading the wikipedia page, which does not mention any cow being involved in The Great Fire of London.

Yeah but there are a lot of shitty old buildings with shitty old wiring here.
Using the hot water tap in my kitchen nearly set my building on fire last year when the mini boiler under the sink shorted out after having melted all the insulation around the wires leading to it. That oily fishy smell of wires burning still haunts me.
A single hot day isn’t a heatwave tho.
Also I was primary school aged at that time, so there is every possibility the adults around me were using hyperbole I wasn’t picking up on.

I feel like you’ve been out of the country for the last decade. We regularly get multiple weeks over 30c in London every summer now and the seasons have been messed up for much longer than that.
The 25c being called a heatwave thing is something I remember from the early 90’s.

Trust your gut though when it comes to individuals. If someone’s behaviour repeatedly makes you feel uncomfortable, you will be happier without them in your life.

I’m also most comfortable in and around transfem spaces, despite my journey to get here not lining up with the typical expectations. Ace too these days, but that’s probably a trauma thing, lmao.
The celebration of gender and sexuality is so wholesome in these speces though, and I relate so much more to it than in any other queer or cis spaces.

Yeah, it’s hellish in London, especially closer to the river and other low elevation areas. The humidity is like living in a sauna.
Summers regularly hit the mid 30’s now though. Sunday is forecast as 31c with almost a week over 30 ahead, and it’s still technically spring.
I swear I remember 25c being rare and called a heatwave when I was a kid, I miss that.
I might be projecting a bit but I’m going to hazzard a guess that a lot of us here probably also have self harm scars we prefer not to show.
