I said it before and I’ll say it again. Grogu is the worst part of the mandalorian. I wanted a cool space bounty hunter show, and then we ended up with a babysitter with the mandalorian and parcs & rec in space with the book of boba fett.

Not saying you are wrong but Half my family only watches it for the baby. Im thinking Disney knows that.

Gotta placate the masses to keep them from wondering just how many Nazis ol’ Walt squirrelled away back in the day (& since). 🤫

Grogu was fine until he became the forcibly inserted Jedi. I don’t know why they’re so afraid to make a Star Wars story without Jedis.

People fucking love space wizards. I don’t think star wars is really sci fi, it’s more just space fantasy. Anytime a story becomes about powers and settings it loses its characters and its narrative.

Power creep is also a bitch. Wow its awesome when you blow up a planet with state of the art SFX! But in the sequel, what do you do? Blow up the solar system? Or will 2-3 planets suffice? What do you do for season 3? Once the hero punches someone so hard it blows up a mountain, it isn’t to long before everyone is hitting everyone so hard that they always go blow up a mountain. Season finale the hero gets hit so hard hero blows up two mountains. Next season premier, hero gets back with some new power that let’s him hit the villain so hard, it blows up 3 mountains.

Every story just degenerates into Dragonball Z. Same thing happened to the Matrix movies. In which case, I’ll just pirate the Manga and admire the work of the master, Akira Toriyama

pretty much every fandom. Doctor Who fans turned me off watching it (the ones on reddit by far being the worst). Star Trek fans are even the same with stuff like Starfleet Academy.

It’s to the point now where if I like something I don’t even talk about it online. except for 40K. that fanbase is hilarious.

Oh, you didn’t stumble upon the part of the fanbase that likes and paints their Imperial Guard in historical inspired colours. Or the ones that like their Black Templar a bit too much. Or the ones that want to “purge the Xenos” irl.

Plus the way overdone shovel meme.

Doctor Who and Star Trek drove off everyone with any kind of sense years ago (I quit DW after the first Peter Capaldi season and I haven’t watched any Star Trek media since the JJ Abrams movies) so it’s not surprising that their current fanbase aren’t exactly providing stimulating conversation.

They aren’t good but there are good ideas in them. I really like the setting and world building that is barely featured in the actual movies lol

The original movies were made by a collaborative team, hence the quality. The prequels were made by emperor Lucas. I’m not saying he was overbearing, but at that point he was a legend. Who was going to tell him something was a bad idea or that his dialogue sucked? Nobody. But during the original trilogy the cast was constantly complaining to him about his dialogue.

Star Wars was perfectly capable of being screwed up before Disney. Disney gave us crap, but they also gave us some of the best Animated star Wars, they oversaw games like Fallen Order and Jedi survivor, they oversaw Rogue One and Andor. Yeah Disney can make crap Star Wars but they’ve also made some of the best since the original trilogy.

It’s pretty clear which moviegoers want to be entertained and which ones want to be impressed in spite of themselves.

Filoni has proven he gets a Star Wars. So as long as it feels like Star Wars, I’m convinced I’m going to have a good time.

And being better than the last several theatrical movies is a pretty low bar to clear.

I have little doubt I’ll enjoy it. I love the Star Wars Galaxy and while I find the movies (and TV shows) of varying quality, there has only been one that I couldn’t find a reason to love. I am pretty sure I’ll enjoy this one. I’m also pretty sure I’ll have to put on my “kids movie” hat, and I’m okay with that. Clone Wars and Rebels both needed that and were extremely rewarding to watch by any measure.

It’s been a long time since I’ve found other people’s opinions to be at all predictive of whether I’ll enjoy in a movie. I’m here for Baby Yoda and Muscle Hutt. I think the film makers probably understand that.

It’s amazing to me how the star wars fan base writes every movie in their head and then gets pissed when the actual movie isn’t exactly what they visualized. I’ve enjoyed (with varying degree) all of the star wars universe.
      People… what can ya do?

Star Wars “fans” are the worst. Enjoy stuff for what it is man, which is basically kids adventure stories.

I think if Mandalorian had not been so popular then it possibly would’ve stayed a bit grittier like season 1. But, it’s had to evolve to be more because it’s now appealing to such a wide audience.

It will be interesting to see if people go to the theater to see this, or if they just wait for it to show up on streaming.
