Oh my bee’s knee’s, I am so bad at this! I get started, and before I know it I’m up far too late on a work night :-/

I used to be even worse than I am now. When I was younger with fewer responsibilities, I’d finish a book in a night or two, and I’d somehow be able to function at work with no sleep. Now, I lose an hour and I’m a zombie 🥲 but… I still can’t stop. 😂

Edit: I mean can’t stop losing the hour. I at least don’t stay up too far past midnight now!

Didn’t you find that you couldn’t remember the book well in that instance, though?

I’ve just read a chapter after finishing about 22 hours of travelling … I’m pretty darn tired, and it’s just not going in :-/

You’d think so, but I did remember a lot of the books I read! I was just able to hyperfocus and be sucked in so intensely that I felt I was there.

Nowadays, I read maybe only a few chapters, depending on how long each chapter is and how in to it I am, until I’m having to reread sentences.

I think after 22h of travelling, anyone would have a little trouble taking in words on the first read.

              That sounds relatable

In other news, I need to stay up for another half an hour or so to try and push myself into the right hours … a couple of short chapters, then :-P

There was a thunder storm, so I couldn’t sleep anyway … I kinda finished the book (it was a really light read, lol)

For me, as a person with adhd, any hobby makes me lose the track of time for a whole two weeks, after which i get bored, then i find something new to hyperfocus on, and the cycle repeats.

I dont do any hobbies which require to spend money on them, unless they cheap enough, knowing that i would not spend lots of time on them.

Good question, because I feel like I had that with a lot of hobbies when I was younger and then lost it. Drawing. Reading. DIY. I guess when you have a child and animals you can’ t lose track of time too much because you’re responsible for others. Screen addiction has also taken a toll. What I really get lost in these days is gardening. I can always seed another row or pull another weed or ask the plants to please grow well. Also, foraging wild plants, when I finally find time to just wander around the landscape.

Gardening: I get up before the sun rises and start gardening around 8-9am on the weekends. If I’m not careful, I can be out there all day constantly fiddling with my plants.

Gaming: More specifically, World of Warcraft. It’s the only game other than Halo I play consistently. I logged on yesterday around 2pm, then suddenly it was 7pm lol

Reading: I don’t typically sit for a long time to read, I usually do a chapter, then get up for a task, then another chapter, and repeat. But if the book is really good, I’ll sit for hours. The last time that happened was when I was reading The Expanse novels, I am getting that a bit from The Protectorate trilogy that I’m currently reading.

Smoking a joint and cleaning: One of my favorite weekend morning tasks. I get stoned then go around the house cleaning, laundry, and picking up whatever else needs to be done.

Baking for sure. It’s easy to get lost in the kitchen and suddenly realize dinner needs to be made and all the counters are covered in parchment paper and various states of cookies or fillings.

Gaming as well. An interesting round of Civilization can make me lose hours lol

I don’t get to allow myself as much time to get lost in hobbies because life happens even more as I get older, but it’s nice to do so here and there as a treat.

When I sit down to play with any of my woodwinds or kalimbas or such, I can find myself realizing that two hours have gone by without noticing.
