      the FOIA has been proving that this has been the case since the late 1970’s, but it doesn’t seem to matter at all.

      i know it’s because western sources have these inception/incestuous relationships with each other the reinforces the propaganda, but i still struggle to understand why americans would still believe it anyways when the american gov’t already said that it’s not true and in writing no less.

        The vast majority of USians have at best a vague conception of FOIA, if they’re aware of it at all. The culture war plays a big role in reifying the accepted spectrum of news media: that the Right demonizes papers like The New York Times makes them more accepted by liberals, and the reverse is true. For USians, politics is often more like team sports than anything else.
