not foss but you can run win7 mspaint.exe under wine
Krita might be more than you’re looking for, but it’s a solid art program.
Kolourpaint. Worth even if you don’t use KDE.
It’s a multimedia specialist distro. Any idea how much of storage kolourpaint occupies ?
Kolourpaint itself is small; the package is just under 6MB. However it depends on a lot of KDE libraries, so if you don’t have those installed, I’m eyeballing 100MB~200MB.
Could this be a reason why it’s not opening on my windows 10 laptop ??

Sorry, I thought you were talking about Linux. You could make Kolourpaint work in Windows through some WSL, but it’ll be probably too much of a bother.
For Windows I hear a lot of people talking about Paint.NET. It is not open source. You could also try Krita, also from KDE; unlike Kolourpaint it has a native Windows version, but it’s a bit more advanced (usually when people ask for a Paint equivalent they want something simple).
kolourpaint
Well, I don’t know about latex, but you could probably make a halfway-decent oil-based paint with clay.
Not sure which oils you should use, but I’m willing to bet there’s quite a few that would be fairly compatible.
You’re joking ?? I’m referring to the program called paint.
I was joking.
Although it did make me wonder about the open sourcedness of paint and paint products for non-computer usage.
There is this whole paint carry-on, when some noob tried to legally restrict a paint colour. Resulted in others responding with an ‘open source’ black paint being released. (3rd paragraph)

Didn’t the person who developed the “pinkest pink” allow everyone to use it… except for the guy who tried to restrict vantablack, as a reciprocal [email protected]?
Edit: LOL, that exact story is one of the top posts on that sub.
Who’s Anish Kapoor ??
He’s the person who holds the exclusive rights to use vantablack in art.
OH. There is a program called LazPaint that is pretty decent, I forgot I installed it along with the other software when setting up this distro. https://lazpaint.github.io/
I’m using Tux Paint.
Has kiddie sound effects, just mute to skip them if needed.
