edit: I love how Europeans still struggle to believe that these are what America sees as pancakes. For context, these buttermilk pancakes were so big that I only ordered two and could only eat half of the second one. If you went to our “International House of Pancakes(IHOP)” and ordered pancakes, this is what you’d get. America really is on another level.

American pancake = cake
Crepe = crepe
Pancake = pancake
Is that so difficult?
Cake is like 3-4 inches thixk though, and has layers and icing.
cake just means it’s sugary and airy, which american pancakes most certainly are, and european pancakes most certainly are not.
Imo, a lot of pancakes aren’t all that sugary. The syrup that we drench them with, on the other hand… Yeah, maybe not particularly healthy.
I’ve never had (or knew about) European pancakes. What are they like?
Very thin, can be rolled up
Isn’t that what a crepe is though?
No, thicker than that
Oh, so how i like my pancakes. My wife likes the big thick ass ones but I always have to convince her to make them thin and she’s like, these are like crepes and im like I guess, but thats how I like them.
Indeed. Pancakes are like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pannenkoek
Something like that but I like a lot of smaller ones rather than one big one.
Those are poffertjes! But those are quite a bit thicker. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poffertjes
I’m not familiar with any other European pancakes, to be honest.
Yeah, I like a denser one, maybe a quarter inch thick. Not paper thin like a crepe would be. Sounds like what you are suggesting.
Something between a crepe and an American pancake.
American pancake = cake
American bread = cake
American tea = soda
American soda = red 40 and chemicals
Everything else can be categorized into the following food groups (with significant overlap): Fried, disgusting, microplastics, slop bowls, flavorless, and something that other countries do significantly better
Don’t know much about American food, huh?
