Recently noticed Hindu/Diver pushups. I don’t do them very often, but I like them a lot. Not sure if it is the range of motion or it being easier than regular pushups(pushing back straight from the bottom) for me
Bouldering, I like the mix between body strength, flexibility, technique and problem solving that it has, it’s good exercise but it feels like a game
Same for me, but with top rope. Bouldering is over too quick for me to get in a state of flow
I used to do top rope too, I like the longer height which tests your endurance, but I get a bigger rush of adrenaline and enjoyment when I finally beat a challenging bouldering problem with the fear of falling
I will still return to top rope, I feel like the one unlocks skills for the other because of the difference in the kind of difficulty
I always loved dodgeball. Too bad you only play it in school and if I would play it now, I would probably hurt myself massively.
Favourite exercise is probably hiking. Full workout and you get a great view of nature, what’s not to love about that? Except if it rains of course…or is too warm… or too many people… OK there are some possible downsides.
I kind of like hiking in the rain, but not in storms. It can be very peaceful and reflective
Another Patches O’Houlihan fan.
My favourite sport is sailing, raced for many years. I’ve never been a fan of team sports but racing is different. Might be the possibility of death lol. I love swimming, raced competitively as a kid, but can’t handle the chemicals at the pools and the cold of the ocean so don’t do that very often. Climbing and bouldering are the next favourite, my husband and I climbed a lot before my daughter was born. She, with my husband, is getting into it now so I went with them and wrenched my shoulder quite badly so haven’t been able to get back.
I know I need to incorporate movement and strength training into my life more (would definitely help with not getting injured!). A comment below mentioned callisthenics so I’m going to look into that. Also yoga!
I am hoping someday to learn to sail
I like hiking in the mountains. Lots of exercise, great views.
Sometimes my wife drags me along to do some Via Ferrata, which is ok, but I’m not really built for it.
Walking and bench press :3
Please don’t make me research what the heck are Hindu Diver Pushups. Please tell us! 🤩
Hindu push ups or dive bomber (diver) push ups.
It’s basically a push up but you put your ass way up in the air. Then move your arms down while moving your chest down and up like a dive bomber.
The down position is your ass close to the grond, your arms pushing up and you chest up. Like some yoga poses. Then slowly reverse the motion till your ass is back in the air like the starting position.
Oh as soon as you said “yoga,” now I understand. I’m literally a yoga instructor so what you’re describing is downward facing dog into chaturanga to upward facing dog 😄
Exactly, I didn’t remember the name of the pose. Do that a few times slow and controlled and you’ll muscles will be burning.
My ‘favourite sport,’ by means of being the only thing called a ‘sport’ I don’t find utterly boring, is sepak takraw. It has elements of hacky-sack which I like, and while I wouldn’t do them myself, pros regularly do backflips as part of the game, so it’s actually not painfully dull to watch either.
My favourite ‘exercise’ is just walking. When it’s not overly hot out, it’s quite pleasant but quite good for you in comparison to the amount of effort it takes.
My favourite exercise is cycling
Snowboarding. I just wish it wasn’t as expensive. And that climate change wasn’t threatening it.
My favorite sports are rugby and field hockey but i would like to play handball but my height is too short(1.66 cm) so it is difficult to play that sport for me.
I’m always split between skateboarding and snowboarding. Have 41 years on the skateboard and 35 on the snowboard.
Being old and broken, I certainly can’t ride like I used to, but I’m having as much fun as ever and still push myself to learn new things.
I hope a much needed knee surgery later this year improves things.
Still, nothing I enjoy more than a day at the park teaching anyone who will listen.
got a lil hydraulic rower over Christmas and hoooo boy that thing is incredibly fun. who woulda thought it’d encourage me to get a bicycle? it’s been an exciting year exploring my city and making friends 😎🥳
Gravel biking. All the joy of cycling without some fatass in a brodozer trying to kill you because he got another erection looking at another man in lycra.
Rowing. Sport you can do sitting down.
sleeping.
