Some 98% of active climate scientists say climate change is happening, and is man-made. Nonetheless, a new study shows the number of climate-change skeptics in Germany has increased. Why is that?
Is this a trend in a lot of other countries? I seem to remember seeing other articles about showing these attitudes elsewhere. I can’t imagine seeing the climate crisis finally starting to noticeably affect Europe in earnest but then having doubts about it. Is it maybe yet another issue that’s getting more and more polarised? More have a stronger belief but then others have a stronger disbelief? I suppose many people will just go straight to having the anti-progressive opinion on autopilot
I’m willing to bet that it has to do with controlling the narrative and disinformation. The more obvious something becomes, the louder the opposing voice needs to be. Just like Covid caused a surge of vaccine denialists.
People are very reluctant to admitting the error of their ways and will dig in deeper into their entrenched position.
