My utility has raised rates so much that they are in a death spiral. High rates make solar more attractive, which reduces revenue, investors and executives demand more revenue, so they raise rates, etc. My bill is broken down by generation costs and distribution costs, and distribution costs are a flat $.33 per kWh, while generation costs are as low as $.05 per kWh, all from renewable energy.

Yeah, I fall in that category, and even though I own a tiny fraction of various companies, I don’t control the means of production. I sell my labor. The fact that I get paid more for it doesn’t change that, and to those that do control the means of production, I am just as disposable. That’s why I have to save and invest; to give myself a way to support my family when that happens.
