It’s just an ongoing joke in the Sonic fandom, not even sure where it originally came from. From what I’ve picked up, Sonic is like Fallout New Vegas or Arch Linux in that there’s a lot of trans people in the fandom for some reason or another, enough for it to be a bit of an in joke.

WomensStuff@piefed.blahaj.zone•Weekly chat thread 17th AugustEnglish
2·12 days agoHope you don’t mind me asking on this post here. But when you create a community, are you able to set it to private while you figure out the banner and icon and sidebar etc. or should I have all that stuff ready to go first? I’m getting a better idea of what I want to make a community for and putting some things together.
Thank you! I honestly don’t want to just hate on anime, it’s just that trying out animes blind can be a bit of a minefield. I like to go in blind with things and not have to research them first.
Gonna save this list and refer to it later. Thank you!
Personally, seeing the closer to original version of events in the new series, has made me like the movies even less, especially the second movie. Also, the older I get, the less ‘philosophical’ they seem and the more full of it they seem.
Also doesn’t help that this latest series has had a lot of movie fans shitting on it, that all came out of the woodwork for this but apparently never noticed SAC or Arise or the fact that the movies are based on something else themselves.
It gave me flashbacks of the ‘lifelong’ X-Men fans showing up to complain about X-Men '97 ruining their childhoods by going ‘woke’.
It’s not even that sexy. Motoko wears a dumb outfit on and off for about half of SAC season 1 but for the rest of the time she actually wears pants. And she clearly has a sex life that would scare the christians but even then, it’s not a main feature and mostly hinted at. In the '95 movie, she has to get nude to use her optical camouflage but personally, the movie and its sequel are bottom of the list for me in terms of favourites and are the odd ones out.
I honestly haven’t watched Blade Runner but going by the short story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, they’re nothing alike. Ghost in the Shell is about cyborgs with human brains, not robots mimicking humans. And it can get philosophical, it does also have AIs that might just have ghosts themselves, but it’s mostly action and political intrigue.
SAC 2045 is pretty dumbed down but the thing I love about the rest (especially the original SAC) is that it tends to have a complex storyline with a lot of different moving parts and subplots at the same time.
As a subtitles viewer, it’s a shit load of reading and something that I can rewatch multiple times and pick up more each time. Something that I don’t even get from Ghibli movies.
Mashle
Forgot about that. I watched it because I heard there was a non-binary character lol. It seems like it’s maybe meant for a school audience like Yu-Gi-Oh etc. but it was pretty fun.
Using Chainsmoker Cat as an example is like saying Jackass is proof that western movies are all immature trash
I honestly had no idea it was meant to be ‘disgusting’ or whatever. It’s just something that I saw being recommended in my feed enough to want to check it out. Anime fans don’t tend to see this kind of thing as necessary to let people know about.
I almost watched Bleach (iirc) because people talk like it’s one of the greatest things of all time. Until I just happened to come across an article that mentioned it has rape. Something that none of the people who praise it ever mentioned.
I’d love if there was somewhere that listed animes that were ‘safe’ or whatever. Because going by recommendations and what everyone is talking about doesn’t work lol.
Yeah I hate to say it but as an animation fan, I basically just stick to Western animation for this reason. As far as anime goes, it’s just Studio Ghibli and 5 different retellings of Ghost in the Shell for me. Spy x Family was pretty good too.
I tried one recently called Chainsmoker Cat, and within the first two minutes, an old man catches a glimpse of a young woman’s boob and rushes off to jack off over it.
And here’s the real problem for me. I thought I’d look up who was behind this series because if it was at least written by a young woman, maybe there would be more to it. But nope, it’s some old fucking man with a filmography full of animes about young women lounging around in their lingerie and shit.
I’m aware of what community I’m in, so maybe I’ll be attacked for this, but Japan has serious issues. I don’t think that the US comics industry at it’s most pervy was even close to as bad. And it’s not even ‘sexy’ or whatever, it’s straight up heavy breathing stalker incel shit.

3·15 days agoIt must’ve been so disheartening to just lose everything like that. Glad that it looks like almost everything has been recovered though.
I was wondering if you were still doing these so to answer your original second question: absolutely yes!

7·15 days agoOof, I have to admit that this is the kind of thing I was sceptical about back on Reddit when people were trying to recommend the Fediverse. Basically petty Reddit power moderators with the privileges of an admin. Surprised I haven’t heard of stuff like this in the Fediverse more often yet.
And this place could do with more content creators like you that aren’t just stealing memes, so this is double bullshit. Hope this person saw consequences for this.

World News@quokk.au•Countries in the Indo-Pacific push to strengthen laws to curb China’s increased spying and foreign interferenceEnglish
2·15 days agoIn February 2026, ROK’s National Assembly passed an amendment to its Criminal Act that expanded the country’s espionage law to include all “foreign countries” and not just “enemy states,” the Asia Today newspaper reported.
But still exclude the Five Eyes I’m sure. As someone not from China or the first world, this news story looks a lot like the Spider-man pointing meme. Although I’m willing to bet that the Five Eyes activities make China look like amateurs.
Also, there’s probably a lot less pedo nazi wannabes on the Chinese side.
Yeah, thankfully whenever I saw a thumbnail of some idiot doing YouTuber face, I always just assumed that it would be “phone Shrek at 3am” type nonsense. Those thumbnails are something that could only attract people who have already been indoctrinated into brain rot because to me, they’re probably the reason I won’t ever watch your video.
My YouTube feed is basically just music at this point.
The way I try and look at it when I’m starting to go on a downward spiral about the life I’ve wasted, is that I remind myself that the first ~20 years of my life weren’t even my own. I was born, then I was a toddler crapping in my nappy, then I went to school where I had to put on a uniform and listen to bells and teachers all day.
So basically, even though I’m 40, half of that wasn’t even my own life anyway. It was spent playing a role for the sake of others. And considering that I live in a socially conservative shit hole, it’s no wonder that I took so long to find myself once I was out of school. Or that it had to come from solitude and not from any awareness or encouragement from peers.
All things considered, it could be worse. I could’ve become an honorary boomer that yells at the kids to get off the lawn, in between scrolling conspiracy theories about Jewish space lazers and litter boxes in schools. But I didn’t and now I hopefully have another 40 years still left to live authentically.

31·15 days agoI’m so sick of white cisgender men acting like the most oppressed and persecuted minority on the planet. These days I find it very difficult to respond to people like this rationally without telling them to fuck off and hammer their faces some more.

12·15 days agoWhy did your account AND all your content get deleted? I’ve seen people around the Fediverse saying that because of federation, you can’t expect a comment that you deleted to be deleted everywhere. And yet it looks like everything from your old account is just gone? Just scrolled through the old Women’s Stuff community and I can’t even see the posts there. Wtf happened?

2·17 days agoI’ve had Ursula Le Guin’s books on my list for a while now, personally. Although the impression that I get is that Le Guin is in her own tier that others should be compared to, up there with Tolkien with Anne Rice.
Haven’t read any of the books in that screenshot myself but I was assuming they’re all that Potter / Narnia / Alice kind of idea of a chosen one in a magical land, mostly for kids and young adults.

2·17 days agoYeah, for me this is one area where “both sides” are actually a thing. The people that adopt ‘childfree’ as a label and identity are just as bad as the people that try to push parenthood onto everyone.
As someone child free and quite happy about that, I don’t need to make it my religion or make hating children and other people’s choices a part of it.

I wonder what the odds are that I’ll be seeing this in my feed way more than I saw anything about Nepal. I’m guessing high. Just like how people who were mourning Dolly Parton and Tim Curry kept asking who the third person is going to be, while literally hundreds of people got killed in the same week in Nepal.
